Valentine Verhaeghe: About The Principle of Poetic Economy, about The Eternal Network of Robert Filliou.
16 September
When Fluxus artist Robert Filliou proposes "La Fête permanente" or "Eternal Network", he decides to include "the harmful, painful or unpleasant elements of life, as well as the pleasant and rewarding events". He publishes The Eternal Network in 1968 with the help of a poster that also announces “la Banqueroute de La Cédille qui Sourit" (trans: the bankruptcy of the Smiling Ç), which was the name of a workshop and (non)shop that Filliou opened with George Brecht. Could Robert Filliou's proposals help us today to think about the artworld, economy and artists' lives?
