Queeroes: Extracts from "O Poustis Laos" ("The Faggot Folk")

16 September

“Antartika”, communist partisan songs from the civil war era play an ambiguous role in contemporary greek cultural heritage: On one hand they represent the taboo of civil war and the trauma of the defeated communists, on the other hand they are celebrated as an essential part of greek resistance to the nazi invasion and it is consider as an invaluable heritage for the modern majoritarian (centre) left (from Pasok to Syriza). Queeroes started as an online musical project fascilitating a radical detournament of “antartika” songs, changing the lyrics in order to speak of queer lives and praise queer politics creating a hauntological post modern propaganda. In ASFA Queeroes’ mini choir will sing 5 songs from their infamous online album inviting the audience to join in the queer revolution
