Till Langschied:

Garden of Shiny Lust

installation

15-18 Sep

In this video installation the camera surrounds a chrome-like shiny mountain in a single 360 degree shot. The mountain is located in a wasteland, surrounded by orange fog and orbited by an armada of syringes. On the top of the mountain shines a sunbed in a dull blue light while a giant red mouth spits Valium tablets which rain down and cover the surface of the space. There are also dancing security cameras and a sinister neon sign. In this slick and cold setting nothing is ever still, but nothing ever happens either. It’s a dystopia of emotionless perfection. The Future is boring.

Till Langschied was born in Frankfurt and used to work in fashion before studying art. His artistic practice encompasses video, performance, sculpture as well as other media and deals with utopias of past and present. Based on his research he created the slogan: "The Future Is Boring".
He claims that he makes art to compensate the fact that he does not know how to use emojis. He currently lives and works in Basel.
